Ian Noakes

biography
Together creating a dignified and fitting farewell...

Biography

Ian Noakes spent eighteen years in broadcasting and broadcast management before embarking on a new career as a Funeral Celebrant. In this time he worked at the radio station Mix 96 in Aylesbury, from its launch in 1994 to 1999. He then joined British Forces Broadcasting, managing the broadcast operations in Germany, Cyprus, Gibraltar, Northern Ireland and Bosnia. He has also featured on BBC Radios Berkshire, Shropshire and York on a freelance basis. Ian also worked at Stamford Bridge for Chelsea FC as their tannoy announcer in the early nineties.

The calling to a new career came and Ian developed an interest in becoming a funeral celebrant inspired by Colin Livingstone, a former colleague, working as a celebrant in North London.

After independent training, Ian took his first steps and conducted his first service at the Chiltern Crematorium in Amersham. Since then he’s taken many services, for numerous Funeral Directors in the Home Counties.

“Helping people, at a time of grief, is tremendously rewarding” says Ian. “The comments and thanks I receive after a service are very precious to me. I put a great deal of myself into my services, the writing, and the delivery, and I hope this is reflected in a dignified and fitting farewell each time.”
